Dr. Mahoney is originally from Los Angeles, California.  She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University.  She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Chicago.  She is fluent in Spanish and has a special interest in working with diverse populations. Dr. Mahoney strives to create a warm, judgment-free and calming environment.  She wants to help you become the best version of yourself!

Dr. Mahoney has a passion for helping adults, primarily women who face acute and/or chronic, life-threatening conditions.  Dr. Mahoney also assists young adults who are facing life transitions, such as building a career, strengthening one’s identity, and preparing the foundation for being in long-term relationships.  Dr. Mahoney has much experience working with adults who have anxiety and/or depression, grief and trauma.  She stresses the importance of the mind-body connection and will help you build coping skills and examine interpersonal factors that might be contributing to your quality of life.  Dr. Mahoney offers a variety of treatment interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy, dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT)-informed, motivational interviewing (MI), mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

Dr. Mahoney worked with veterans while on internship at the Jesse Brown VA hospital in Chicago, Illinois.  She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Kennesaw State University, where she provided therapy, academic and career counseling to adults, as well as crisis and substance abuse interventions for students.  Dr. Mahoney worked for three years as a Psychologist at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia before entering private practice.
