Dr. Mahoney is originally from Los Angeles, California. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. She is fluent in Spanish and has a special interest in working with diverse populations.

Dr. Mahoney has a passion for helping adults face health conditions, such as cancer, HIV, heart disease, obesity, coping with plastic surgeries and severe food allergies. Dr. Mahoney provides treatment for a number of issues, including launching young adults into adulthood, dealing with existential questions or spirituality towards the end of life, mood and anxiety disorders, interpersonal difficulties in relationships, adjustment to life events, bereavement, stress management, and chronic pain. Dr. Mahoney offers a variety of treatment interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy, dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT)-informed, motivational interviewing (MI), mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

Dr. Mahoney worked with veterans while on internship at the Jesse Brown VA hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Kennesaw State University, where she provided therapy, academic and career counseling to adults, as well as crisis and substance abuse interventions for students. Dr. Mahoney worked for three years as a Psychologist at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia before entering private practice.
