Ann McKee Parker, Ph.D.

AnnParkerClinical Psychologist
[New patient forms]

I am a licensed psychologist and have been in practice since 1991. I specialize in working with adults experiencing anxiety disorders including OCD and PTSD, and/or depression. I also see couples who would like to improve their relationship. I coach adults recently diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder with or without Hyperactivity (ADD/ADHD) to improve organization and planning skills as well as to develop impulse control. I also work with older adults who are facing the changes unique to that stage of life.

Following 11 years as a Corporate Psychologist, I am uniquely qualified to coach managers/executives and often their families in their personal as well as professional lives.

My philosophy in working with all clients is based on performance related psychological principles: concentrate on the behavioral strengths of the individual and minimize the effect of real or perceived behavioral shortcomings. My goal in therapy is to create a supportive relationship which provides safety for reflecting ideas, evoking solutions and supporting the implementation of behavior change. I assist in learning without teaching. This is accomplished through acting as a sounding board, facilitator, and coach and awareness raiser. In addition to experience the skills I bring to this task are:

  • Patience and empathy
  • Support and reflection
  • Perception and awareness
  • Objectivity and active listening

I received my doctorate from Georgia State University as well as my Masters degree. My undergraduate degree is from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania. I have served on the faculties of Georgia State, Mercer University and Agnes Scott College. For 11 years I was Vice President and Corporate Psychologist for a large hospitality company. I served on the Board of directors of the Georgia Psychological Association and am a Past president of that organization as well as a Fellow. I have served as the Governor’s appointee to the Board of the Department of Community Health.

I accept Blue cross Blue Shield, Aetna and Medicare.
